Though the star did have some deficiencies, its derivative the Star City is the most complete package in this class. TVS has had enormous learning experiences thanks to collaborations with Suzuki and their ongoing motorsport effort. Superb detailing and finely executed styling lend a distinct personality to the Star City and there’s little to denote her humble lineage. She is after all a 100cc motorcycle but has the styling size and attitude of a 125. Detailing and build quality are the best seen in any bike in this category yet we would have liked to see a fuel gauge added to the equation. The Star City is powered by the least compelling engine, its 99cc engine making just about 7.4PS of max power and the lowest torque rating at 7.5Nm. But motor sport engineering is where TVS have learned to extract the most out of the least and by simply employing lighter materials and eradicating what’s not required the Star City manages to make an appreciable 68.5PS to the ton. Performance wise not much has changed though she records a slightly higher top speed with marginally improved acceleration.

Generation after generation it has been one of the best sellers for Bajaj amongst all categories. Even today it remains the highest selling model in the segment. That the Bajaj CT 100 bites off such a large slice of the commuter segment pie comes as no surprise. The one aspect that also helps push sales is that Bajaj are able to cater to the huge demand in good time. Decked out with tasteful finery and sporting some more features the CT 100 DX has also been topping the sales charts. The CT 100 DX has been styled in line with trends that were fashionable a year ago where slim and little body lines and contours were all the rage. Switchgear has the full complement of pass switch push to conceal indicator switch and assorted paraphernalia though most appreciated is the fuel gauge housed in one of the pods on the instrument console. The head architecture encases on over square bore stroke layout which displaces. 99.27cc. A high 9.5:1 compression ratio helps this slightly inclined from the vertical engine to make the highest power and torque figures in the segment. With 8.3 PS of max power she also sports fantastic power to weight ratio which endows her with great ride ability.
