1976 XP-882 and 1990 CERV III
1976 XP-882:
The four-rotor car got a transplanted V-8 in 1976 to become the Aerovette. Gm design chief Bill Mitchell kept its original lines intact however not that there was reason to fiddle. A good looker even now, it’s dynamic design even when viewed from overhead in profile it displays a strongly triangulated mound shape deftly balanced proportions and artful surface detailing Gul wing doors barked back to the original Mercedes 300SL couple but were articulated for easier operation in tight parking spots.
1990 CERV III and Indy:
The CERV III made its debut at the Detroit International Auto show. The car’s mid-engine V8 is a 5.7 liter 32 valve, dual overhead cam LT5 Engine with the addition of twin turbos and internal modifications. Speed 225mph horsepower is rated at 650.
Carvette 1973 XP-897 and XP 898

1973 XP-897
Built by Pininfarina to a GM design,the XP 897GT ‘Two Rotor Car’ appeared in 1973 as a showcase for GM’s then imminent Wanket type rotary engine. Like the original XP 882, it was widely believed to be a precursor of the next generation Carvette.The Wankel though was consigned to history its bits and pieces picked up by Mazda who ended up developing the famous RX sports cars round it.
1973 XP 898
It looks a bit like post 1982 Carvettes,but the one off XP898 of 1973 was actually built on the chassis of Chevy’s small four cylinder Vega. It ismission was to test feasibility of a new ’sandwich’ fibreglass boody construction using a foam filter that could be varied in thickness to provide desired strength in specific areas.

Mitsubishi PX-MiEV

Punto gets five star safety rating

FIAT Auto’s all-new Grande Punto has been awarded the maximum five-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests. This independent consortium has been carrying out crash tests on vehicles since depending on the results. Its assessment groups the new Italian super mini with the best in its class as regards adult occupant protection. The Grande Punto, which goes on sale in the UK early next year, scored 33 out of a possible 37 points for safety. In front-end barrier crash tests, the test car, a three-door Grande Punto 1.2 Dynamic, achieved 14 points or 85 per cent. In the side impact crash test it scored 18 points and 98 percent. Two more points for the seat belt reminder brought Grande Punto’s performance in the separately assessed Euro NCAP categories of child safety and pedestrian protection.
