The B7R is a luxury bus aimed at state and private transport operators and private transport operators plying long distance routes betweel cities. It costs Rs,40 lakh in its standard version which includes an air conditioner. In the coming months the B7R will be sold primarily in Southern and Western India. Spec-wise the B7R is powered by a 260bhp turbocharged intercooled 6.7 litre diesel engine. Since it is significantly more powerful that is rivials, Volvo claims that performance does not drop over inclines and other hostile terrain. This means faster journey and turn around time. Plus the fact that the engine is able to take care of the AC doing away with the need for a separate generator reduces noise and vibration levels to a great extent. Volvo claims the bus to have an estimated life of 800,000km before the first overhaul compared to 400,000 km for regular buses.
